Definition of Multiplication

When the same number or Digit is added to a number or number one or more times, it is called Multiplication. Number or Digit is multiplied as many times as it is added.

Multiplication is represented by the symbol x.

  • 4 × 5 = 20
  • 40 × 2 = 80
  • 20 × 5 = 100

Solution:- According to the question,
106 × 106 – 94 × 94 = ?
(a + b)(a – b)
(106 + 94)(106 – 94) = ?
200 × 12 = ?
? = 2400

Q.4 24 × 0.1 – 100 × 0.01 = ?

Solution:- According to the question,
24 × 0.1 – 100 × 0.01 = ?
2.4 – 1 = ?
? = 1.4
Ans. 1.4

Q.5 In a series of numbers, the next number is thrice the previous number minus one. If the first two numbers of the series are 2 and 5, then the fourth number will be.
