What is Called Adding
When one or more numbers or digits are added to a Number or Digit, it is called addition.
Addition is shown with a + sign.
Example :-
- 5 + 5 = 10
- 10 + 10 = 20
- 25 + 25 = 50
- 50 + 50 = 100
- 100 + 100 = 200
The numbers which have zero at the end (unit) are called zero numbers.

= 7/4 + 5/8 + 3/4
= 4, 8, LCM of 4 = 8

= (14 + 5 + 6) / 8

Solution : 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + ………..48 + 49 + 50
last number = 50
first number = 1
N = (50 – 1) / 1 + 1
N = 49 + 1
N = 50
Sum = (first number + last number) / 2 × N
Sum = (1 + 50) / 2 × 50
Sum = 51 × 50 / 2
Sum = 51 × 25
sum = 1275
Ans. 1275
Q.6 A vegetable seller has 48 kg of potatoes, 42 kg of onions and 64 kg of tomatoes. So how many vegetables does the vegetable seller have in all?

Solution :- According to the question,
Potatoes = 48 kgs
Onion = 42 kgs
Tomatoes = 64 kgs
Total vegetables = 48 + 42 + 64
= 154
Hence, the vegetable seller has 154 kg of vegetables.
Q.7 34 boys and 15 girls are traveling in a school bus. Altogether how many children are traveling in the bus?

Solution :- According to the question,
boys in the bus = 34
Girls in the bus = 15
Total children in the bus = 34 + 15
= 49
Hence total 49 children are traveling in the bus.
Q.8 A school library has 314 old books and 183 new books. Altogether how many books are there in the library?

Solution :- According to the question,
Number of old books = 314
Number of new books = 183
Total number of books in the library = 314 + 183
= 497
Hence there will be 497 books in the school library.
Q.9 In an orchard there are 256 mango trees and 112 guava trees. How many trees are there in all in the garden?

Solution :- According to the question,
Mango trees in the garden = 256
Guava trees in the garden = 112
Total trees in the garden = 256 + 112
= 368
Hence there are 368 trees in the garden.
Q.10 There are 449 men, 328 women and 112 children in a village. How many people live in the village in all?

C. 889

Solution :- According to the question,
Number of males in the village = 449
Number of females in the village = 328
Number of children in the village = 112
Total people in the village = 449 + 328 + 112
= 889
Hence the total population of the village will be 889.
Q.11 Kareem bought wheat for Rs.470 and gram for Rs.280 from the market, then how much money did he buy from the market?

Solution :- According to the question,
Karim bought wheat from the market = Rs 470
Karim bought gram from the market = Rs 280
Total amount bought by Karim from the market = 470 + 280
= Rs 750
Q.12 Mohan had 185 mangoes, 238 guavas and 81 oranges, so how many fruits did he have in all?
A. 320
B. 504

D. 890
Solution :- According to the question,
Mohan has mangoes = 185
Mohan has guava = 238
Mohan has oranges = 81
Total fruits with Mohan = 185 + 238 + 81
Total fruits with Mohan = 504
Q.13 There are 319 men, 298 women and 261 children in a village, then what is the population of that village?

Solution :- According to the question,
Number of males in the village = 319
Number of females in the village = 298
Number of children in the village = 261
Total population of village = 319 + 298 + 261
Total population of the village = 878
Q.14 Ashok Rs.350. 246 cloth, Rs. 210 for grocery and Rs. Bought wheat. Tell how much money Ashok spent in all.

Solution :- According to the question,
Ashok bought cloth = 350
Ashok bought grocery = 246
Ashok bought wheat = 210
Total Rs = 350 + 246 + 210
Ashok spent a total of Rs.806.
Q.15 In an orchard there are 196 mango trees, 256 guava trees and 240 papaya trees. Tell how many trees are there in the garden.

Solution :- As per question
Mango trees in the garden = 196
Guava trees in the garden = 256
Papaya trees in the garden = 240
Total trees = 196 + 256 + 240
There are a total of 692 trees in the garden.
Q.16 A player scored 138, 204 and 199 runs in three matches respectively. Find the total runs he scored in all the three matches.

Solution :- According to the question,
Runs 138 + 204 + 199 respectively in three matches
= 541
Hence the player scored 541 runs in all the three matches.
Q.17 You have 700 rupees, father gave 300 rupees to you. How much money do you have now?

Solution :- According to the question,
You have Rs = 700
Father gave money = 300
Total Rs = 700 + 300
You have got 1000 rupees.
Q.18 Umesh has 34 flowers and his sister has 20 flowers. Tell how many flowers both of them have in all.

D. 54
Solution :- According to the question,
Flowers near Umesh = 34
Sister has flowers = 20
Total number of flowers with both = 34 + 20
= 54
So both of them have total 54 flowers.
Q.19 There are 58 students in Mathematics class and 94 students in Biology class. What is the total number of students in both the classes?
A. 120
B. 152
C. 178
D. 154
Solution :- According to the question,
Students in maths class = 58
Students in Biology class = 94
Students in both the classes = 58 + 94
= 152
Hence there are 152 students in both the classes.
Q.20 There are 2468 workers in a factory. 1625 new men come to work in the factory. Tell how many workers are there in the factory.
A. 1,205
B. 4,093
C. 2,890
D. 4,890
Solution :- According to the question,
Workers in a factory = 2468
New men in the factory = 1625
Men in the factory = 2468 + 1625
= 4,093
Hence, the number of workers in the factory will be 4,093.
