Measurement

If you are going to read all the measurement information on this page, then definitely read this article completely.

On the previous page we have shared information about Ratio and Proportion, so read this article also.

Let us today read and understand all the information about definition of measurement, quantities and units of measurement.

What is Measurement

Science is based on measurement. The measurement of any quantity requires some standard measurements. This standard is called the unit of that quantity.

The magnitude of a quantity is determined by comparing it with its unit.

For example, when we say that the length of a table is 2 meters, it means that if two meter scales are placed end to end in a straight line, they will be equal to the length of the table.

Hence, the magnitude of the length of the table is.

2 meters = 2 × 1 meter

To have complete information about the magnitude of any such amount, knowledge of the following two things is necessary.

Measurement Definition

Measurement is a technique in which the properties of an object are determined by comparing them to a standard quantity.

Also, measurement is the essential metric to express any quantity of objects, things and events.
