Word Based Questions and Answers

Q.1 In a code, STREAM is written as QSRNBF and SUPERB is written as OTRCSF, then how will BORING be written in this code?

Solution :- STREAM – QSRNBF
SUPERB – OTRCSF
BORING – QNAHOJ

Here the first three letters are reversed (-1), then the next three letters are reversed (+1).

Answer. QNAHOJ

Q.2 In a certain code language, HANDSOM is written as IBOCRNNF, how will EPIDEMIC be written in the same code language?

Solution :- HANDSOM – IBOCRNNF

EPIDEMIC – FQJCDLID

Here the first three letters are made (+1), then the next three letters are made (-1), then the last two letters are made (+1).

Answer. FQJCDLID

Q.3 In a certain code language, “YEARLY” is written as “BVZIOB”. What will be the code for “ANNUAL” in the same language?

Step-by-step explanation :
Given that,

YEARLY is written as BVZIOB

Writing the numbers for the alphabets, we have

Y     E     A     R    L    Y    ———->      B      V      Z     I     O    B

25   5     1     18  12   25   ———->     2     22     26   9    15   2

Now, we can clearly see the relation between the numbers on both the sides. All numbers on adding are giving 27 as the answer.

Y + B = 25 + 2 = 27

E + V = 5 + 22 = 27

A + Z = 1 + 26 = 27

R + I = 18 + 9 = 27

L + O = 12 + 15 = 27

Y + B = 25 + 2 = 27

So, this is the code for the language.

Now, we have to write “ANNUAL” in the same code language.

A = 1        N = 14     N = 14     U = 21     A = 1       L = 12

First alphabet = 27 – A = 27 – 1 = 26 = Z

Second alphabet = 27 – N = 27 – 14 = 13 = M

Third alphabet = 27 – N = 27 – 14 = 13 = M

Fourth alphabet = 27 – U = 27 – 21 = 6 = F

Fifth alphabet = 27 – A = 27 – 1 = 26 = Z

Sixth alphabet = 27 – L = 27 – 12 = 15 = O

A   N    N    U    A    L    —————>      Z    M    M    F    Z    O

Hence, “ANNUAL” is written as “ZMMFZO” in the same code language.

Answer. ZMMFZO

Q.4 In a certain code language “CONSTRUCTION” is written as “EMPQVPWAVGQL”. What will be the code for “DESTRUCTION” in the same language?

Given that,

YEARLY is written as BVZIOB

Writing the numbers for the alphabets, we have

Q.1 In a certain code language ‘1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10’ is written as COMPUTRSNE, then how will 4 3 2 1 6 5 10 9 8 7 be written in that code language?

Solution :-

Q.2 In a certain code language “EASY” is written as “5117”. In the same code language, how will “BEAM” be written as?

Solution :
EASY → 
E is the 5th alphabet in the series
A is the first alphabet in the series 
S is the 19th alphabet, which makes it (1 + 9 = 10 ⇒ 1 + 0 = 1) 
Y is the 25th alphabet, which makes it (2 + 5 = 7) 
Hence, EASY = 5117 
Similarly, 
BEAM → 
B is the 2nd alphabet in the series 
E is the 5th alphabet in the series 
A is the 1st alphabet in the series 
M is the 13th alphabet, which makes it (1 + 3 = 4) 
Hence BEAM = 2514

Answer. 2514

Q.3 “SPECIAL” is written as “65” in a certain code language what will “CONNECT” be coded as?

Solution :
SPECIAL → Sum of the place value of each alphabet in the alphabetical order
SPECIAL = 19 + 16 + 5 + 3 + 9 + 1 + 12 = 65
So, CONNECT = 3 + 15 + 14 + 14 + 5 + 3 + 20 = 74

Answer : 74

Q.4 In a certain code language, “ISSUE” is written as “341145”, in the same code language what will
be the code for “DATES”?

Solution :
ISSUE → Multiplying the place value of each alphabet in the alphabetical series
ISSUE = 9 × 19 × 19 × 21 × 5 = 341145
Similarly, DATES = 4 × 1 × 20 × 5 × 19 = 7600

Answer : 7600
